A company created by two of Lancashire’s leading transport families is hosting a series of workshops to help companies understand the importance of having integrated systems in place for the management of work related road safety.
The first workshop will be taking place on the July 8 and 9 2008 at Blackburn Rovers Football Club, starting at 8.45am. The delegate places are in demand and demonstrates a need for companies to understand more about occupational road risk.
Bowker Vehicle Contracts has built its success on 100 years of experience, shared by the established Bowker Group and MNH~Platinum. Bowker Vehicle Contracts was formed when Paul Bowker, Chief Executive of the Bowker Motor Group, and Mark Hindle, Chief Executive of MNH~Platinum, joined forces to provide contract hire and vehicle management services to companies throughout the UK. From its headquarters in Blackburn, Bowker Vehicle Contracts provides unrivalled levels of service to companies whether they need just one vehicle for a day or a fleet of 1,000, as while the company is relatively young, the people behind it have decades of experience in the industry.
Companies believe that they understand about current legislation but it needs to be understood in the same depth that health and safety is managed in the workplace. Bowker Vehicle Contracts are making companies aware that managing occupational road risk needs to have the same priority.
Companies still accept that work related collisions are an inevitable cost of doing business but the seminar re-educates companies to a more pro-active, mutual problem solving approach.
Chris Whalen, Business Development Manager comments, “In every walk of business, there are four main principles; plan, organise, lead and control. This seminar will help companies understand more about company vehicles and advise on issues that relate to their business. If not properly managed, the cause and effect sequence begins and this leads to losses”.
The workshops will cover moral, legal and financial issues, perceived threats to the business and individuals within the business, the new Corporate Manslaughter Act, no win-no fee and corporate responsibility. Current legislation will also be covered and discussed. The road safety policy will also be covered, which will include the assessment of whether company vehicles are roadworthy, liabilities and record keeping. The workshop will close with a discussion about post crash investigation and management leadership.
Chris continues, “Each of the workshops are unique. They draw upon the experiences of the groups. Each delegate will leave the workshop with the tools and knowledge to meet their particular corporate governance obligations.”
