The latest face of the ‘ultimate sports saloon’ launches at Bowker on 11 February 2012.
Now in its sixth-generation, the new BMW 3 Series Saloon is a winning combination of both ‘lean and mean’. BMW EfficientDynamics technologies bring class-leading fuel economy and low emissions while the athletic appearance and outstanding performance knocks the competition for six.
The BMW 3 Series has dominated its segment for over 30 years so BMW has concentrated on enhancing features that will make the biggest difference. For example, the sporty new design incorporates energy-saving air inlets and the larger windows and low shoulder line make for a brighter interior. The dimensions of the car have been increased, yet the overall weight remains the same. Rear passengers now benefit from increased head and leg room, the boot offers 480 litres of storage space, that’s an additional 20 litres over the outgoing model, plus the front door pockets are large enough to hold a 1-litre bottle of water.
The generosity continues across the range with an exceptionally high standard specification that includes Bluetooth, Cruise Control, USB, iDrive Controller and a 6.5” colour screen. The impressive list of optional features now includes full colour Head-up Display, Park Assist, Surround-view, Real Time Traffic Information with BMW ConnectedDrive and Comfort Access with clever hands-free opening of the boot via a sensor under the rear bumper.
New BMW TwinPower turbocharged engines across the range, plus Auto Start-Stop and selectable ECO PRO mode as standard, mean both petrol and diesel models deliver significantly reduced emissions and fuel consumption. The 320d EfficientDynamics model, for example, reaches 62mph in 8.0 seconds yet it achieves 109g/km and 68.9mpg combined.
Already renowned for its unrivalled agility, the 3 Series now benefits from a completely new chassis to enhance the driving experience even further. Moreover, with Drive Performance Control providing ECO PRO, Comfort, Sport and optional Sport+ settings, the drive can be tailored to suit different preferences.
More choice to express your individuality is a key feature of the new BMW 3 Series Saloon with three new character models – Sport, Modern and Luxury – joining the popular ES, SE and M Sport variants. Each model features different design highlights including exterior colours, interior trims and wheels unique to that model.
The Sport model is undeniably dramatic. Upholstery with red contrast stitching, black High-gloss detail on the bumpers and bespoke air intakes reflect its dynamic performance and athletic agility.
Whereas the Modern model provides a more natural colour palette and elegant feel, with exclusive alloy wheels and subtle use of Matt Chrome on exterior features
The Luxury model features standard 18” alloy wheels, luxurious Dakota leather upholstery with exclusive stitching, fine wood interior trim and Chrome exterior detailing
