Blackburn Car Dealerships Appoint First Directors of Fun to Target Cash Donation for Parkinson's UK21/03/2016
A car dealership in Blackburn has appointed two new directors of fun to co-ordinate staff charity fundraising activities.
The appointment co-incides with Bowker BMW & MINI on Trident Park in Blackburn picking Parkinson’s UK to be its chosen charity for the next 12 months.
Paul Bamford and Danielle Glover will both combine their respective jobs of corporate operations manager and receptionist with drawing up a diary of fun events and challenges. The calendar will be designed to enthuse staff and generate sponsorship income for Parkinson’s UK.
Bowker Blackburn managing director Chris Eccles said,
“It’s something the staff have wanted to do for some time. We have a happy bunch here at Bowker. It’s a case of work hard, play hard and raise some money for a worthwhile local cause along the way.”
Bowker BMW & MINI in Blackburn already have a proven track record of staff challenges including sponsored walks; bow-tie wearing marathons; hugathons and sky diving. The new Directors of Fun will bring all those activities together as one focused 12-month fundraising campaign.
One person in every 500 has Parkinson's; that's about 127,000 people in the UK.
Symptoms and how quickly they progress are different for everyone. There's currently no cure, but drugs and treatments are available to manage many of the symptoms.
Sarah Green for Parkinson’s UK said,
“Support from local companies plays a crucial role in both fundraising and letting more people know about what we do. That’s why Bowker’s involvement is so important. We’re looking forward to a packed 12 months of fun activities that help raise awareness of our work and raise a little money along the way too!”
